(28 April 2010) Great news in the form of a letter recently came to Illinois State University reading recovery ® office. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the reading recovery program, Margaret "Peg" Reagan wrote a letter to fellow teachers to initiate a monetary gift. Match what teachers donated six colleagues, was able to raise a considerable amount of money for the program.
Reading recovery teacher Leader Susan Almeida first worked with Peg 21 years ago to establish the initiative in reading recovery school district of Ottawa. Peg led the program, and successfully kept going for 15 years until she retired. "It is people like Peg the reading recovery program was founded to," said Almeida.
Peg believes reading recovery to be a full programme for children and adults in Ottawa where he taught school. She asked the help of his former colleagues to give her a "high 5". Is this symbolic moniker that represented a successful 16 weeks of involvement with a child in the program.
