(May 4, 2010) Lisa Devereux and Julie Herold senior Lyconus, special education, were chosen as Robert g. Bone scholars for the academic year 2010-2011.
Scholars of bone, the highest honor the University-wide students, includes a monetary prize of Endowment bone scholars. Images of the recipients are displayed in the center of student of bone, and their names are engraved on a plaque displayed permanently there.
Fourteen students were selected for the award. New scholars will be introduced to current scholars of bone, bone past scholars and University administrators during an awards dinner held on 11 September.
The scholarship is named in honor of the late Robert g. bone, President of the State of Illinois from 1956 to 1967. Bone scholars are selected through a campus-wide contest strictly on the basis of their scientific achievements and their commitment and leadership in activities in the University community and beyond. Finalists invited with a comprehensive portfolio of several essays and statements, a project and five letters of recommendation.
