(November 19, 2009) Every year, partner ACEI (Association for childhood education international) with a Scholastic book fair to raise funds for the student organization.
"Help with the cost to send our members of the Council of the National Conference and the proceeds are also used to help with heterogeneous articles as snacks for meetings, handouts, etc.," said Dr. Alan Bates, faculty sponsor of ACEI.
The book fair, which lasted for three days, offers an outlet for those looking to add new material to their curriculum and to have a first look at new books to the market. "We are sponsoring a book fair for teacher education students and professors and teachers are able to purchase books for libraries in the classroom or as a gift, especially with the holidays fast approaching," said student leader ACEI Ashley Farrell.
Members of the Student Council to coordinate all the programming book Fair workers who are members of the organization. They assist with set up and tear down every day of the fair. "The book fair this year was a success thanks to those who volunteer their time," said Farrell.
This year, although ACEI has not met their goal of selling $ 1,800 in books to receive cash proceeds to the organization. However, they managed to get $ 500 worth of books. "We have to reach that amount to receive money, otherwise we receive a percentage of the books," said Bates.
In the past, ACEI donated part of the book to various schools and organizations in the area.
